The Range

Engineered Wood Flooring

Engineered wood flooring has a hardwood bottom layer, a softwood or plywood middle and then a veneer top. This combination makes engineered wood more stable than solid wood and better able to cope with temperature and moisture changes.

It’s either tongue and groove or click plank and comes in  many colours and styles, including parquet and herringbone. The planks are glued together and tend to be fitted in a floating installation method. And because it’s less sensitive to moisture and temperature changes, engineered wood flooring works well with underfloor heating.

Depending on the thickness of the top layer, engineered wood can have a long lifespan. The thicker that is, the more times it can be re-sanded or refinished.

So you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to engineered wood flooring. It really comes down to what’s right for you and your personal choice. Don’t worry, we’re here to help and advise and can talk through lots of different wood flooring options with you.

FAQ's

Questions Answered

Got a question about wooden floors, or looking for some cleaning and care tips and techniques? Why not check out our top rated q&a's below...

Do I have to remove my skirting boards before having wood installed?

Not necessarily but you may choose to do so if you are not keen on having scotia beading around the perimeter. This is used to hide the expansion gap required with wood installations. Our team can advise and if you take advantage of a visit from our estimator they can talk you through what is possible and will give the best finish.

What warranties are available on flooring?

These really do vary across the different types and manufacturers. For example, wear and tear on carpets can range from 5 years to 20 years. Our longest hard flooring warranty is 40 years. Don’t forget we match these with our fitting warranty.

Can you help with the moving of furniture and/or appliances?

Yes we can, please mention this when talking to one of the team and it can be included in the works.

How can I protect my wood floor from scratching?

We recommend the use of felt pads on the feet of all furniture. Entrance matting is a great way to prevent stones on the bottom of shoes from damaging the floor. Re-oiling of wood floors can also help protect the veneer. All the necessary products for prevention and protection can be purchase from our online store here.
